July 30th, 2009

If you are thinking of choosing a bridal jewelry, you should keep in mind that it is absolutely important to have some know how in buying. Proper selection may be accomplished if you know what you are doing.

The wedding is a special occasion where a woman should be highly selective of her jewelry. The jewelry shows how special an event or happening is. Look for bridal jewelry with elegant design. Wearing stylish but cheap looking jewelry on your wedding day is something unacceptable. Having elegant bridal jewelry does not mean having to spend a lot of money on it. You just have to be very careful in choosing your bridal jewelry, a piece that will surely complement to your wedding dress and make you look elegant on your wedding day. It is a rare moment, so you have to select the proper bridal jewelry for you. Remember, elegant jewelry doesn’t have to expensive, especially if you have limited budget, but it doesn’t have to be second-rate looking.

Classic jewelry continues to be the most selected bridal jewelry. It goes along with your wedding dress and emphasizes the importance of the occasion. The good thing about buying classic wedding jewelry is you can wear this jewelry regardless of time and trend changes. You can even pass this memorable piece over to your daughter someday when she too will tie the knot.

Your Hairstyle – Worth Remembering on Your Wedding

July 28th, 2009

As common as it is, most women will not go outside the house without even fixing their hair or making sure that their hair is flawlessly beautiful when they go outside, the same goes especially for your own wedding.

Brides commonly make a great deal of effort to make sure that the hair will fit perfectly with the veil, the bridal jewelry and the gown. The hair usually speaks everything for a woman and so, brides also have to consider some guidelines to avoid hair mishaps:

  1. Do a bit of a researched on some possible styles you want to have for your wedding. You can have a lot of fun looking at some wedding magazines or some fashion magazine.

  1. Talk to your stylist. If you have a regular stylist, talk to him or her about some hair styles you would want and those that you think will not look good on you.
  1. Make sure that you and your stylist have agreed on the style of your hair before your wedding. Bring the things that you are going to use for your hair, your tiara or your veil and some of your bridal jewelry and your necklace to see if it will compliment the style you are going to have.
  1. Your hairstyle should compliment your wedding gown and even the location, time and place of your wedding. It would not be practical for your hair to not be styled if you are going to marry on the beach since your hair might be all over your face if you don’t style it properly.
  1. Avoid unnecessary hair mishaps by going to your stylist earlier and decide the right cut and color meant for your hair. This is also necessary so that it would be easier for you to have another go if you are not satisfied with the first one.

JEWELRY AND THE PERFECT WEDDING

July 25th, 2009

I was having dinner with a couple of old friends and they showed us their wedding album. Everything was just so elaborate. Her wedding dress was so tasteful. Her bouquet looked gorgeous. But what really caught my eye was her choice of bridal jewelries.

I asked my friend how she chose her bridal jewelry and said that she researched on the net.

So I checked out the internet and there I found those so many choices. They have those in pearls, diamond, and Swarovski and even in zirconium. They look so elegantly crafted. My friend said that you can even have your wedding jewelry designed according to your taste. So I was thinking that if I was getting married at this time I would probably wear nothing. I mean not a lot of bridal jewelries for me just a pair of earrings that would compliment my face even more. Maybe a pair of diamond studs or just a pair of small white pearl earrings would do. Pearls are considered the traditional bridal jewelry, anyway.

Come to think of it, I did wear just pair of pearl earrings as my bridal jewelry on my wedding day, I guess, looking at the other couple’s wedding album just made me reminisce my own wedding and that was perfect.

GIVING A BRIDESMAIDS LUNCHEON

July 23rd, 2009

Not the same as the bridal shower where the maid of honor commonly host it and plan for this event, bridesmaids’ luncheon are typically made by the bride in honor of her bridesmaids, their friendship and the bridesmaids gifts to be given at that time.

A bridesmaids’ luncheon can happen a few days before the wedding to give you some quality time to those women in your life that has significant meaning to you. You can include your mom and your sisters and close cousins with you and your bridesmaids to a brunch or even dinner at your favorite restaurant or at your home.

This can also serve as a great time to hand your bridesmaids gifts to them and to those close relatives of yours whom you want to say thanks for all those rendered help they gave you to plan your wedding. Your bridesmaids on the other hand can give you something old, new, borrowed, and blue that you can use for your wedding day while the old folks can give their advice about marriage life and those sorts. All in all, this luncheon serves as a great bonding time for you and your close relatives and friends.

Non-Traditional Bridal Jewelry

July 21st, 2009

When different is what you are looking for, it is a good idea to start by working with a jeweler who specializes in helping brides, and will know all the interesting ways to custom make bridal jewelry. A bridal jewelry specialist will have all sorts of ideas about handcrafting your wedding pieces to suit your style and taste. Best of all, in some cases, you can get one-of-a-kind jewelry, like custom bridal Swarovski necklaces, for no more than the standard stock pieces.

So how are some of the ways that you can make your look less traditional? The factors to keep in mind include color, shape, size, and materials. Look for pieces that have stand-out details. They could be bold, whimsical, vintage, or theme-oriented. You will want to select bridal jewelry that coordinates with both the theme of your wedding and the cut of your gown.

More and more brides these days are getting away from the all-white look. You see gowns with colorful embellishment, bright bouquets, and other festive details. Your wedding jewelry can be the perfect place to introduce a dash of color, either to match a color in your dress or as a contrast with a pure white ensemble.

Color is not the only way to elevate your wedding jewelry above the crowd. Interesting materials and gems in unusual shapes and sizes are also fantastic options. For a playful and chic twist on the traditional white pearl, choose pieces that are handmade with flat coin pearls in round or even square shapes. Their special shape and large size will really make your bridal jewelry pop. The organic shape of keshi, or “petal”, pearls is another wonderful variation on white pearls for your wedding. Keshi pearls are very stylish and they also look great for a beach wedding.

There are so many fresh and stylish new options for bridal jewelry that there is no need to feel limited by tradition. Choose the pieces that express your personality and that fit in with the style of your wedding. When your wedding jewelry is so fun and interesting, you will enjoy wearing it on many occasions long after your wedding day.

Unique Wedding Centerpieces

July 20th, 2009

Your centerpieces are one of the highlights of your wedding reception. They are a great place to add style to your reception, and they also allow you to have some fun expressing your personality. Here are some ideas for unique centerpieces that you can use.

  1. Submerged flowers. This style of centerpiece is both incredibly hip and surprisingly simple. All you need is a stem or two of orchids or berries, a tall clear vessel, and some water. Fill the vessel, submerge the flowers, and there you go. The cool thing about these centerpieces is that they have a true designer look, and yet are easy enough to do yourself. They are also affordable, because you are only using a few flowers per table.

  2. “Planted” flowers. One of the most adorable centerpieces that I have ever seen was created from low containers in which wheatgrass was planted and grown a while before the wedding. The day before the wedding, the grass was trimmed to be uniform, and stems of cheerful gerbera daisies were “planted” in the bed of wheatgrass. A neat piece of ribbon was added to each vessel with a dab of hot glue (no bows), and that was it. Totally original and affordable diy centerpieces.

  3. Colored water. Why does water have to be clear? A few drops of food coloring can quickly transform water from boring to interesting. Just be aware that some flowers will draw the color up their stems, so it is safest to match the color of the water to the natural color of the flowers. Brides who can’t get enough sparkle will love the effect of filling the bottoms of clear vases with colored crystals. This looks fabulous when the bride and bridesmaids are wearing crystal bridal jewelry.

  4. Non-floral displays. You do not have to create your centerpieces from flowers. They can be anything that strikes your fancy, from a tower of antique books to stacked gift boxes covered in exquisitely patterned paper. Edible centerpieces are also wonderful. You can create tiers of perfect little cupcakes or a croquembouche, which is a traditional French wedding dessert consisting of a tower of cream puffs held together with caramel. Beautiful and mouthwatering, what could be better?

Glamorous Bridal Beauty

July 20th, 2009

What makes a look glamorous? It is drama, style, and a touch of sex appeal. Glamor is not only a look, it is an attitude, so before you commit to this bold style for your wedding, be sure that it suits your personality. Of course, how you look on the outside can also affect how you feel on the inside, so if a dash of drama will bring out your inner movie star, go for it!

There is no more glamorous lip color than red. However, there are as many shades of red as there are people, so be sure to find the red that looks best with your coloring. A good rule of thumb is that people with warm undertones in their skin will look better with a red that has an orange base, whereas if your skin tone is cooler or pinker, choose a red with a blue base. A satin formula lipstick is your best bet, as the high shine of a gloss formula can be too garish and a matte lipstick can make your lips appear dry and cracked.

If you are wearing a bold lipstick, keep the rest of your makeup understated. Wear a natural looking foundation to even out your skin tone, a little blush to enhance your natural glow, and keep your eye makeup simple. A little eyeliner and two coats of black mascara should be just right to balance out bright red lips. If you like, you can also wear eyeshadow in neutral tones to play up your eyes just a bit.

A great alternative to red lips is a bold smoky eye with natural lips. The smoky look is the epitome of evening glamor, though you may find it hard to pull off for a morning wedding. This glamorous effect is better suited to a formal or chic wedding than to an informal ceremony on a beach or in a state park. The key to pulling off the dramatic eye is to choose the colors that will make your eyes pop.

Finally, remember that such a glamorous beauty regimen calls for equally dramatic accessories for balance. Look for fun and flirtatious bridal jewelry, like great crystal chandelier earrings. For your hair bridal jewelry, a sophisticated crystal or rhinestone comb is ideal. Once you have your whole dramatic look together, you will shine like a star on your wedding day.

Dos and Don’ts for Plus Size Brides

July 20th, 2009

Do: Visit all bridal shops, not just those that advertise that they stock gowns in all sizes. The finer designer gowns are made-to-order anyway, so even if the store only carries samples in a size 8 or 10, you can still have any gown that you like made to fit you like a dream. In fact, you will get a much more flattering fit by ordering a made-to-order gown than you will buying a mass-produced gown off the rack.

Don’t: Worry if things need to be altered or adjusted for a better fit. This includes not only your wedding dress, but your other accessories as well. Many plus sized brides will find that standard necklaces are too short on them. This problem can be easily remedied with custom bridal Swarovski necklaces. By shopping for beautiful Swarovski bridal necklaces that can be custom ordered, you will find getting the perfect length to be a snap.

Do: Trust the expertise of a consultant that you click with. Bridal consultants work with hundreds of brides a year, and they have seen every dress in the store on every size bride. If your consultant pulls a dress for you to see that she thinks will look fantastic, keep an open mind and try it on, because it may well be “the one”.

Don’t: Be surprised by something  that might occur when it comes time to order your dream gown. You might see the consultant order a dress that is one or two sizes than your usual dress size. This can be really depressing, but don’t let it bother you; all it means is that sizing in the bridal industry runs differently than in regular clothing. As long as you order the size that best matches your measurements on the size chart, you will be just fine.

Do: Finally, we will end on a do: do enjoy yourself, surround yourself with positive people, and believe that you deserve to feel like a beautiful princess on your wedding day. It might take a little extra work to find it, but just like the right man, the right wedding dress is out there for each and every bride.

What to Look for in Bridesmaid Gifts

July 20th, 2009

First of all, the bridesmaid gifts that you choose should be thoughtful. This means that you should literally take some time to carefully think about what each of your bridesmaids would truly appreciate receiving. Although many brides will give identical gifts to each bridesmaid, you certainly do not have to. This can be helpful to know if your bridesmaids all have different tastes or interests. As long as the present for each attendant is of a fairly equal value, they can be as varied as you like. Of course, feel free to splurge a bit more for your maid of honor’s gift.

The next thing to look for in bridesmaid gifts is something that can be personalized or customized.  It could be a cosmetic bag that can be embroidered with each girl’s monogram. Or it might be a unique shell necklace personalized with initials, which is fantastic for a beach wedding. You can also select one set of bridesmaid jewelry, and have it handcrafted in a different color for each of your attendants. These special touches will show your bridesmaids how much thought you put into their gifts.

You should also choose bridesmaid gifts that have lasting value. As nice as a magazine subscription or a gift certificate may be for a birthday gift, it isn’t the best option for a wedding. Better choices would be items like silver compacts, picture frames with a photo of the bride and her friend, luggage, or silver jewelry boxes. These will make lasting momentos of your wedding, as well as daily reminders of your friendship.

Another thing to look for in your bridesmaid gifts is something that is useful. If they can wear it, carry it, or display it, that is great. Gifts that match your attendants’ hobbies or interests are also good. On the other hand, if the present is something that she will never be able to use or enjoy, it is not the right thing. For example, if you have a bridesmaid who is a teetotaler, she will probably not appreciate a gift of a silver wine bottle topper, no matter how beautiful it may be.

As long as you put your heart into it, you will have no trouble finding the perfect gifts for your bridesmaids. It is always nice to be able to show those who do so much to make your wedding a joyful time how much they mean to you.
